Althia Raj/Toronto Star: A year into Prime Minister Mark Carney’s tenure, pressure from the left is noticeably lacking. Not only has the Liberal minority government shown little interest in granting the New Democrats the balance of power, but with the NDP reduced to six MPs, and Elizabeth May the Greens’ only voice, neither has the required 12 seats for official party status. What it means is no resources for staff to organize news conferences, for example, few questions during question period to draw attention to issues, no seats on committees to call or question witnesses, to shape public policy and garner support for legislative amendments…
